God’s Power in Cancer
I will praise You with all my heart, Lord my God,
and will honor Your name forever.
Psalm 86:12 (HCSB)
Amber’s close friend, Linda, is moving into the presence of Christ. When Amber spoke with her for the last time, Linda said she was ready to see Jesus and the place He had prepared for her.
Her faith, in her reality, takes my breath away.
She honored Him to the end of her earthly life. Her words travel, and they come to me. The knowledge of her faith encourages me.
This is not only how I want to leave this world, it is how I want to live in it.
Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine,
According to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and
In Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever! Amen.
Linda is the church. If you know Jesus, you are too.
Cancer is hard from every perspective and when you speak of it, you realize how far it reaches. God has birthed Psalm Thirty Four Eight for this purpose. I am ashamed that I have kicked and screamed much of the way. Sometimes I still do. I have to keep my eyes on Him.
At times I doubt t the plan; the one that uses ME for His glory. It is pride when I focus on self.
In this understanding of my very real weakness, He gently reminds me that only He is capable to reach hearts. He reaches down from heaven and encourages me; through a friend, a FB post, an email. He gives me a glimpse into His purpose, His plan, His power.
He knows what I need.
Who am I that He should let me participate in His work, and what privilege do I have to be an extension of His hand?
I am His beloved.
I am the church.
Linda is in the presence of Jesus and free from her earthly suffering, but God continues to use her. I am grateful for the Saints who go before. Because of their faithfulness, God reaches me.
Today, do not focus on your lack of ability. Instead, look to Jesus and His ability to work through you. Through the mystery of Christ’s power in us, He will speak from generation to generation.
Lord, help us to turn our eyes away from ourselves and look to You. Give us Your power so that we can glorify You to those that need Your encouragement and salvation. Fill our lives with Your Truth, through Your Spirit, so that You can reach generation after generation. It is in Your Holy Name we pray.
I pray You Live Like You Know… where you are going.
