So the sisters sent a message to Him, “Lord, the one You love is sick.”
John 11:3 (HCSB)
I have read this Scripture many times. I don’t think it has meant anything to me before now.
I have been prayed for by countless women. My sisters have sent messages about my sickness to the Lord. This is how they have cared for me and it is how they have given me their best. I have no biological sisters, but I have many sisters in Christ. Some of them I know and most I do not. One day I will meet them – I can’t wait! When there is a need, I know who I can count on and these are often the first that I call. I ask them to pray and they do. Oh, how they do!
This verse gives me a beautiful picture of how the prayers of women actually look. We send messages to Him. It is not for His need.
He already knows.
Lord You have searched me and known me.
You know when I sit down and when I stand up;
You understand my thoughts fro far away.
You observe my travels and my rest;
You are aware of all my ways.
Psalm 139:1-3 (HCSB)
We send messages because of our need for our . Savior Hope.
Now this is the confidence we have before him: whenever we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.
1 John 5:14
And He answers.
Ask and it will be given to you:
seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.
For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks the door will be opened.
Through prayer, we receive the great blessing of participating in Jesus’ work with Him. We partake in the ministry of Christ and we can recognize it for what it is; the work of His hand. It is a great mystery to me how we can petition God and He responds. His answers are not always the way we think they should be, but they are always best.
In prayer, we can often minster to each other without ever knowing the need. Because He knows the need. Someone is brought to mind and the Spirit prompts us. We lift our heads and bow our hearts. There are no obstacles to overcome. We can take our voice straight to the Throne; straight to the Father.
I cannot wait until I am known as I am known. When I stand face to face with Jesus, I will see my life as He has seen it – from beginning to end with every woman in between. In the midst of that, I am confident that I will be amazed at the work my sisters have done.
Ask the Lord to bring to mind those sisters that are in need. Lift the women you know and send messages, for them, to the Lord.
Lord, thank you for sisters who send messages to you. I pray that You will give them the same portion that You have given others, on behalf of their requests. I am so grateful that we can participate in Your work by speaking the desires of others to You. Thank you that You hear us and that You answer us. Bring to mind those that have needs right now. Thank you for always giving us Your best and that You can do nothing less. Thank you for the sisterhood of the saints.
I pray you Live Like You Know… where you are going.
