I am not Brave, I am in Need.
I am afflicted and needy; the Lord thinks of me.
You are my helper and my deliverer; my God, do not delay.
Psalm 40:17 (HCSB)
I’ve had difficult seasons in my life. My most recent trial was my 15 month battle with Breast Cancer. I give God glory, not only because I am a survivor, but because Jesus met my needs every step of the way.
I’ve had people say to me, “You’re brave.”
When we hear others give the Lord praise and glory in, or after, difficult times we seem to think they are courageous. We perceive them as people who have it all together like they have moved into some super spiritual place that supersedes all worry, doubt or fear. They can appear to be unmoved by past circumstances and fearless of ones that lie ahead.
If we could spend time with them, we would find that their God-Story came from needs that were met by Jesus, too.
In my God-Story I want people to know
I am not brave – I am needy of His strength.
I am not unafraid – I require His peace.
I am not without grief – I have to have His joy.
I am not wise – I must have His Word.
I am not unselfish – I have to have His love.
My fight with cancer is not a cancer story, it is a love story. I have been given a glimpse of where I am going and I want to share it with others.
Every life is a tale of God’s love. Each one of us has been created by Him; formed and fashioned in the womb. Some just don’t see it. They view life from the perspective of being here, not from heaven looking back.
And so a blog is born.
One day every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that He is Lord. And even those who do not know Him will have their eyes opened and the love story of their lives will be revealed. They will know the Savior’s sacrifice and pursuit for their soul because He desires that none would perish.
I have an urgent need to understand, and live, like I know where I am going. I want to encourage others and share the glimpse of what I have barely begun to grasp. My life is desperate for Jesus Christ and all that he freely gives. With every step I take, He shows me that He is all I require.
To God be the glory.
I pray you Live Like You Know,
