Prepare the Way of the Lord!
A voice of one crying out:
Prepare the way of the Lord in the wilderness;
make a straight highway for our God in the desert.
Isaiah 40:3 (HCSB)
Are you facing difficulty today? Jesus wants you to know that whatever wilderness you find yourself in, you have been prepared for it since before the foundation of the earth. Our Savior does not give us things we are not spiritually ready for. Who walks without taking the first step? Who runs a marathon before running a mile?
We often think that the struggles of this life make their way to us from out of nowhere because we cannot see them coming. When life takes a turn, we say, “It came out of the blue.”
This is far from the truth.
Just as Jesus prepared your heart to welcome him, he prepares your heart for more of him.
Since the day you were born, he has been equipping you for this very moment.
When I look over my life, I see what Jesus has given me – all of his grace, all of his love, all of his mercy. Nothing has been wasted and my past is my proof. Preparation means my flesh must be weak for his Spirit to be strong.
When there is more of him, and less of me, I can give glory to God.
Giving glory to God, when life is hard, prepares the way for him to work in the lives of others. They see the Spirit, not the flesh, and they want him.
Purpose is given to the suffering.
Are you the voice of one crying out? Jesus wants you to know that he hears you and he is with you every step of the way. One day your preparation will be complete because you will live in perfect fellowship with him. When that day comes, all of your life will make sense. Hold on to the hope of heaven and look to the sky for his coming. Trust him for his return and for the promise of perfect, eternal life with him. Live here, with a heart that knows, joy is coming.
