Suspicious of God?
When the Spirit of truth comes, He will guide you into all the truth.
For He will not speak on His own, but He will speak whatever He hears. He will also declare to you what is to come.
John 16:13 (HCSB)
Have you ever been suspicious of the blessings God has provided? With an honest heart, I must say that I have. I have read “harm” in the gifts I have been given.
I search for Jesus in everything. I want to know all that He is doing in my life. I don’t want to miss a message, an opportunity, a confirmation or a blessing.
This is an awesome place to be when my heart has a posture of faith and trust. I praise Him, and give Him glory in my circumstance, believing the gift as it is given – in goodness and perfection. I trust my Savior for my future and I can take the next step with confidence, peace, and trust.
I am destructive when I allow my mind to steer me down a course of questioning. My thoughts spiral, doubt sets in, and fear takes hold. I begin to think that I am being “set up” by God and that He is waiting to pull the rug from under my feet.
I have had thoughts like, “The Lord must be giving us monetary blessings because there is a financial storm coming.” Or, “We must be on the mountain because the valley is just ahead.”
How about this one, “If goodness comes from cancer, will I have it again?”
Foolishness!
Suspicion is fear and fear is the opposite of faith.
When we have distrustful thoughts, they are never from Jesus.
My weapon of defense is the Spirit of Truth; God Himself, guiding me and speaking to me.
Scripture always reveals the reality of God’s intentions. The Father has written it all down and given me the gift of the Spirit so He can speak it to me. Nothing is held back and His motives are confirmed.
He never “sets me up” – But God proves His own love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us! Romans 5:7-9
He calls me friend – No one has greater love than this, that someone would lay down his life for his friends. You are My friends if you do what I command you. John 15:13-14
God is love – For God so loved the world in this way: He gave His One and Only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16
What Jesus freely gives is to be deeply and personally mine. He has told me my future and it is sealed with Him in eternity. My outcome will never change.
If you are in a place of feeling suspicious of what God is doing in your life, pray and ask Him to fill you with the Spirit of Truth. Open your Bible and read the reality of His love and intentions. Memorize Scripture and hide it in your heart so you are armed with Truth when fear and doubt creep in. Remember Jesus, and the price that was paid to secure your future with Him.
I pray you Live Like You Know…where you are going.
“My outcome will never change.” Amen.
“It is done.”
The Victory is Won! It is Finished! Imagine how “aligned”, with God’s will, we would be if we thought of these, when making a decision, opening our mouths, planning our days…Thanks Bailey, for always being supportive! Bonnie
