I am Giving God 15 More Minutes
A man’s steps are determined by the Lord;
So how can anyone understand his own way?
Proverbs 20:24 (HCSB)
When I am not at home developing my ministry, I am running frantically from one thing to the next. I am on a mission to accomplish as much as possible in a minimal amount of time.
I have a passion to reach other women with the hopes and promises of their heavenly home. I build my community through social media and I often measure the fruit of my labor through stats and visits. Often, I am discouraged and I wonder if Jesus uses me at all. I become disheartened because I cannot lay my eyes on the evidence of a life encouraged.
Today I slowed it down. I asked Jesus to speak to me and confirm His work through me.
With my extra time I stopped by the paint store. Here, I met a stranger. We shared some small talk and, at the mention of Jesus’ Name, tears streamed and her heartache is revealed. The weight of her load is heavy. This beautiful woman is finding it hard to go on and desperately needs a friend to love on her. She feels alone. I reassured her that Jesus is always with her; she is never forgotten or unnoticed. We gave tight hugs that squeezed love and life. Phone numbers have been exchanged and I will be blessed to have her by my side at church.
I went by the school to take care of something I had not found the time for. The Lord gave me a chance to visit with a woman who is feeling worn from doing the same thing day after day. We talked about dreams that have been laid aside, and dreams that seem like they are too vague to come true. I encouraged her to dream BIG because we have a BIG God. I confirm she is right where God wants her (she touches the soul of every life that enters that place). I talk about how Jesus is in the mundane and, with every task, we are taking one more step toward the greatest dream unfolded – seeing our Savior face to face.
On my way to the grocery store, I had a chance to speak with a woman who lost her mother just before Mother’s Day. She seems as if she is somewhere else. Sadness is written on her face and heard in her voice. She tells me how her father’s care was “amazing”. My heart breaks and I tell her I will pray. I am praying she knows the eternal love and care from her heavenly Father.
Had I not slowed my pace to wonder about God’s ministry, through me, I would have missed the hearts of these beautiful women and the opportunity to spend a few minutes with them. The blessing is mine.
Today, Jesus has been
The Friend that is desperately needed,
The Dream Encourager who makes all things possible,
The Comforter to one who is hurting.
I am allowing fifteen minutes more for each of my steps.
Perhaps you are a woman with a passion for ministry. You give your effort in Children’s Church, Bible Study, Sunday School and Small Groups but sometimes you feel the wheels are just spinning and there is little to show for the work you are so purposeful in. I pray you will look outside of your ministry schedule and connect with those that are in your every-day world. Look at the faces, and into the eyes, of those around you and make time for the appointments Jesus divinely sets.
A few minutes is all that’s needed to reach others with the Truths of God love; Jesus sees them and He is making a way for all who call Him Savior. In this, your ministry purpose will be fulfilled.
I pray you Live like you know … where you are going.
