Jacob set up a marker at the place where He had spoken to him—a stone marker.
Genesis 35:14 (HCSB)
A milestone is coming. My 2 year mammogram is just around the corner of the day. I brace myself a little because I know that sometimes the best of God is in the hard. I also know I could be standing on the mountain.
When I reflect back over my life I see many milestones; the ones that mark the distance to a specific place. They are posts of great joy and deep valleys.
God reminds me that He is the One who marks my path and every point begins and ends with Jesus.
He tells me He is:
The tablet of the law
The altar of goodness and grace,
The boundary that keeps my inheritance safe,
The firm foundation that leads to the Father,
The chosen cornerstone of salvation,
The stone that has been rolled away.
Every one of my milestones are living stones engraved with grace and mercy. They are the evidence of God meeting me where I am.
Jesus is the waymark that guides me and with every footing He steers me home.
Tomorrow another stone will be placed and I am preparing my heart. I do not know what the outcome will be but I know, that whether I am on a mountain or in a valley, God will be present and He will leave the proof of His love.
Lord, I pray for those of us who are experiencing pivotal highs and lows. Whether on the mountain, or in the valley, I ask that You would reveal Yourself so we can see our circumstances marked with Your great love. Give us hearts that deeply know Your presence and give us eyes to see our milestones as confirmation of Your great mercy and grace that leads us home.
I pray you Live Like You Know …where you are going.
Strength to strength,
