For the month of October, Live Like You Know is dedicated to Breast Cancer Awareness. This month, a few precious friends will be guest posting and I will be republishing older devotions from my battle with cancer, September 2011 – October 2012. I pray Jesus will encourage those in need.
My Cancer-Story is a Love-Story
I am afflicted and needy; the Lord thinks of me.
You are my helper and my deliverer; my God, do not delay.
Psalm 40:17 (HCSB)
When we hear people give the Lord praise and glory in times of struggle we think them to be strong and courageous. Their faith, although shaken, is intact and the hope for tomorrow is grounded in knowledge of God’s plan.
If we could spend time with them, we would find that their strength came out of weakness and need for the One that is beyond themselves.
God-Stories come from grace and love.
In my God-Story I want people to know
I am not brave – I am needy of His strength.
I am not unafraid – I require His peace.
I am not without grief – I have to have His joy.
I am not wise – I must have His Word.
I am not unselfish – I have to have His love.
My fight with cancer is not a cancer story, it is a love story.
Jesus never forgets those He loves. In the darkest hours He rushes to the wounded heart and binds it with grace and mercy. His Word promises us deliverance and our eyes move away from the things of this world and become fixed on the Hope of Glory. My life is a tale of God’s love and His strength in my weakness is another opportunity to give praise and honor to the One who sustains me with love-story-sacrifice.
Lord, I lift those that are struggling with a cancer diagnosis. Jesus, rush to them and bind them up in grace and mercy. Blanket them, and the ones they love, with Your sacrifice covering. Show them Your presence and Your thoughts for them and reveal the story of Your love.
To God be the glory.
I pray you Live Like You Know …where you are going.
Strength to Strength,
