One Woman at a Time
Brothers, I do not consider myself to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and reaching forward to what is ahead.
Philippians 3:13-14 (HCSB)
I love the start of a new year; a time of reflection and goals. In the past I have thought of it as a time to wipe the slate clean and start over.
2014 will not be a new start for me, it will be a continuation of a race that Jesus has already begun.
This year I am not focused on a new beginning. Instead, I am set on persisting in the race that God has already set in me. I am not focused on my past; success or failure. Instead, I am using all of it as an advantage for my future.
I will never attain the perfect will of God this side of heaven; faultlessly pleasing Him with every thought, deed, or act. I am a woman constantly striving, reaching, and pressing toward the deliverance of heaven; the reward that is given to those who endure.
I am staying the course of faith and trust.
And how does a woman win the faith-race?
She begins with a solid start in the Word of God.
She keeps a steady pace and does not get distracted.
She looks ahead to the prize.
She stays close to the Center.
And when she is close to the finish, she gives all that she has left and she leans.
How can your past profit your future?
Could this season of your life be the time to sprint and give all you have?
Jesus, Your Word is powerful and mighty to save and You are faithful to continue the work You have started. Savior, You have forgiven our sins as far as the east is from the west. Help us to live these Truths out, by reaching toward the finish where we will receive the Crown of Life.
