One Woman at a Time
I am a planner. I make lists and schedule commitments months in advance. Most people say it is a gift but I know that is not always the truth.
I am not just any ol’ planner. I can be a control-planner and there’s a big difference between the two.
The control-planner does not have room for God to intervene; when He calls her to care for someone or something that is not on the schedule.
This woman (me) can be an organizer to a fault; living in the plans of men and resenting God’s will for the day. I can view God’s desires as intrusions when goals go off course. When this happens my attitude says, “I can’t get anything done” when the proper response should be, “God’s done much through me”.
Feeling robbed is the root of pride and thankfulness is the foundation of humility.
My response reflects the state of my heart and I am learning to discern the difference between personal accomplishments and God’s will accomplished.
When I respond correctly I see value in my day, not waste.
Jesus is teaching me that preparations for the days to come are not always born out of a wise woman; one with gifts and talents for managing much. Instead, they can be birthed from a heart that does not walk with complete faith and trust in understanding that God knows best. I am foolish when I try to coordinate the days ahead, out of my own desires, as if flesh can transcend time anyway. A wise woman holds her days loosely; open to God’s plans, first.
I know the required order; Jesus comes first. And when I am mindful of this, I walk humbly with my God.
What are your thoughts and challenges about being open to God’s plans for your schedule? Does it help to say, “God’s done much through me” at the end of the day, when your plans shift? Will you chat with me in the comment link, above?
Do you ever feel like life “interrupts” your plans?
Do you think it was Jesus calling you to His will, first?
Jesus, Help me to hold my plans loosely. Give me wisdom to discern what You desire before what I want. I want Your best and know that it can only be received when I am focused and open to You.
