One Woman at a Time ~
Wait for the Lord;
be strong and courageous.
Wait for the Lord.
Psalm 27:14 (HCSB)
One of my sons recently tried out for the middle school baseball team. He’s an athlete but has never played this sport before. I was proud of his determination and impressed by his practice; day after day he threw that ball against the pitch-back net.
In the beginning I had a strong confidence in God’s blessing over my son and I delighted myself in the abilities He had given him.
Conditioning came and the seasoned players came with it. These other boys have experience and well, they. are. good. First-cut was delayed by winter snow, but (big breath) my boy had made it. More tryouts came with those coaches sizing–up my son; scrutiny is hard on a mama’s heart and it wreaks havoc on a father’s nerves.
By the time the final roster posted, weeks had passed and my prayers had weakened to, “Lord, please just let him be an alternate.”
I had gone from a bold confidence of God providing the desire of our hearts to, “Will You just give us Your minimum?”
Why did I go from a place of victory to a place of settling? Nothing had changed from beginning to end –
The only thing that had changed was the passing of time. Many days had come and gone since that first day of claiming victory in the desires of my heart and I had let doubt cloud my mind.
God always gives His best; He gave His perfect Son.
I want to be a woman who walks in confidence of God’s blessings from beginning to end. I want to live victoriously in every moment because God’s best, Jesus Christ, is in it all. He is governed by love and His plan is perfect – even in the waiting.
How about you? Have you started out confidently expecting God’s best for something in your life, only to find that it is taking much longer than you had hoped? Is doubt creeping in and is your heart starting to settle in a “bare minimum” prayer?
If so, reclaim your confidence in God’s plan. The victory that you were certain of yesterday is the same victory you can be sure of today.
Remember a time when you were confident in God providing a blessing, and it took longer than you had hoped.
Did God use that time of waiting for a purpose?
Was His timing perfect?
Jesus, give me a heart that has confidence in You and Your timing. Help me to claim the victory that is already mine and fill me with more faith and trust in Your perfect plan.
