~Monday’s Mid-life Mama~
“Get up,” Jesus told him, “pick up your mat and walk!”
John 5:8 (HCSB)
I am entering a new season. I’ve known my past; it was familiar to me before it even began. As a little girl, I had dreamed of having a career and being a wife and mama. I know the possibilities of my future, too – I have ideas about retirement, grandchildren, and dating my husband again.
It’s the space in-between that can cripple a woman and leave her unable to move forward.
We look at the blank canvas ahead and we feel disqualified by the world after years of raising babes. It seems as if that season has been our life-feast. We have a desire for God to use us, but we cannot paint the picture. Life can feel withered, as if we are just dragging ourselves from one day to the next with a heart that is lame.
When we are feeling helpless in our strength, we are right where God wants us to be; dependent, insufficient, in need, and searching. And it is then that Jesus can work His power in our lives. It’s here, that the Savior can show off His love and purpose of glory fulfilled.
He meets us where we are,
As the Sin-forgiver spoke over this paralyzed man, He speaks to us, too. Jesus gives us power and commands us to move ahead. He tells us we are able and He gives us permission to go forward with His blessing.
Beautiful Sparrow, we have been equipped! We re women filled with God’s stories, experiences, faith, gifts and talents, and we have been given the God’s authority to believe in our future because it has been spoken over us.
It is through you and me that God wants to show others who He is and the wonders He is capable of and so He is calling us to pick up our mat and go!
Can you imagine this man’s joy after Jesus opened his eyes? Can you picture his exhilaration and enthusiasm as he anticipated the possibilities ahead? I am sure he was ready to go and I am certain he went with a heart of gratitude.
He was given a new life, new opportunity and a new season.
If you are feeling low and paralyzed about your unknown purpose, will you consider this verse and ask God to penetrate your heart? Pray and ask God to help you move forward with the authority and blessing already given. And when you go, will you go with excitement and hope for the possibilities ahead? You, my friend, are forgiven and blessed, and everything in front of you is made possible with God.
Jesus, help me to have incredible joy and anticipation of what you have planned for my new season. Renew my heart and help me to see the authority, and blessing, You have spoken over me. It’s in the Name of Jesus I pray. Amen
I pray you Live Like You Know …where you are going.
