God’s Divine Appointment’s Are In Our Everyday
I am not a “Saturday Shopper”. Most weeks I eek out the time to complete my errands by Friday. Last Saturday, as I was dropping my son off to work at the nearby grocery store, something inside caused me to circle that parking lot and pull into a space. I needed one thing. As I walked across the lot, I asked God to show me the reason for my stop. I’ve learned it’s rarely about the list or the task at hand – it’s about Him! As I am checking out, I ask the cashier if she knows anything about a college shooting that took place in our state the day before. She begins to share about her friends’s daughter that was one floor down when it happened. She tells me about how this same girl was in a car accident the day before that awful shooting on campus. Judi has been telling her friend about God’s protection and she calms the heart of a father who doesn’t understand how his daughter had two close calls in such a short period of time, Judi and I take a few minutes to conversate about how God is in it all – every detail, every circumstance, every everything! We give Him recognition and praise because we both know God is with us in the grocery store. He is doing what He does best; giving glory to Himself through testimony of another. When I ask her if I can include this story in a blog, she says. “Only if it’s about God and not about me.” That one thing I went in to get from the grocery store? It was encouragement!
How do we strengthen each other? One woman at a time. God sets divine appointments every day of our lives: in the grocery store, at the restaurant, on the playground; everywhere we go! Each morning I pray that Jesus would give me eyes to recognize the women who feel alone, are struggling, and need to know God SEES them. Often, I receive what I want to give. I ask, He opens my eyes, and He gives me simple words that speak life. Tears fill the eyes, and gratefulness is given to a Savior that knows where she is.
