I am blessed to share the message of God’s Assurance of Presence and Purpose on Wednesday evenings from October 14 ~ November 18, 2015 at Steele Creek Church of Charlotte in Charlotte, NC.
Here you will find a condensed message, handouts and Scripture of what we covered October 28. We welcome you to join us in this beautiful time of learning what Jesus says about this journey! If you’d like to come, we would be so very blessed! Just email me here.
God wants us to know that we are on a pilgrimage – a journey in which He is actively present and calling us forward – toward Himself. It is a journey of faith of things to come: all that hoped for in heaven.
We are to live out of our salvation experience with the joy that comes from a continual pouring out of the gospel message from God. It meets us in every moment of our lives.
Salvation-joy is to be an over-flow of God’s unbroken gift of redemption. His saving grace is ongoing, and active, and is the constant presence of God’s involvement of power and love.
And then we remembered our salvation experience; where we were in life when God met us and how we came to believe on Him as Lord and how He rushed to our souls with the greatest kindness ever given.
This Week – God’s Strength in our Weakness (verse 7)
It is here that God reveals to us that we are not on a journey that just moves haphazardly from one struggle to the next. No, we are on a journey that moves from one strength to the next and in each strength, God is lavishing us with grace toward us, and glory toward Himself. It is His gift of salvation-promise *to be for us – that is actively present and at work for our benefit.
God tells us we are not on a journey that is reckless or ever escapes His purpose or presence. He reveals that He is always conforming every detail of every detail to the goal of fulfilling His plan – which is the promise of perfect glory. It’s here that God gives us a new perspective – We are never moving from weakness to weakness, We are always moving from one act of grace to the next and in each one God is showing us the awesome power of His love that is worthy of joy, thanksgiving and praise.
- God tells us, remember what He has done
When we look to the Lord and His strength we acknowledge our dependence on God and our admiration of Him in His rightful place. When we turn our eyes toward Him, we recognize and enjoy His divine presence in our lives and we share our intimate thoughts on a level that connects our souls in fellowship with Him.
Seeking His face is our recognition of His presence and favor.
God is telling us to recall a record of His divine dealings with us and freshen our minds on our own personal experiences with His goodness and mercy.
- Remember God’s wonderous deeds is remembering His Grace toward YOU
The Father’s marvelous deeds are His acts of divine favor toward us. They are the reality of grace lived out of the Father’s heart in relation to us. His kindness and strength are grace-motivated and they give understanding to His presence and the power of His love.
He makes Grace abound so we have sufficiency in all things.
No matter how complex or difficult our circumstances are, there is always strength for us in God.
Grace points to the glory of His salvation that the world would know Him as Redeemer.
Grace points to the glory of His protective care that they might trust Him as their defender.
Grace points to the glory of His Word that others might experience a personal relationship
Grace points to the glory of His help so that others would choose it.
Grace points to the glory of His heavenly home so others might desire it, too.
Grace is God’s relief to mankind.
Grace is an act of God’s favor toward us and glory is the result of this grace toward Himself.
- Remember God’s wonderful deeds to See Glory
When we remember God’s mighty deeds, we understand that all credit is to be given to the Lord and we are compelled to publicly acknowledge His glory and strength that has been unveiled.
And as we take each step in the life we have here, we are being transformed into the image of Christ.
Jesus is the image of the invisible God and as we keep our eyes on Him, and who He is in every circumstance, we begin to change.
Here we catch only a glimpse of God’s glory because strength to strength is one glory stage to another.
And one day we will receive the crown of glory and in this we can do nothing less than worship Him.
- God wants you to rejoice in what He has done!
The whole earth is called to rejoice at God’s triumph and those who give glory to God’s name are invited to participate in it.
- Give God thanks in His might deeds
- Praise Him in worship
Praise Him for the attributes of His character – one day, all the souls will be raised into fellowship with God as a nation.
- Remember a time when God has walked with you
- What Grace did you receive? What purpose or blessing was created out of your circumstance for your benefit?
- What did God show you about Himself? What was the glory God revealed to you about Himself?
- Rejoice – What joy did He bring to you?
- Thank Him and praise Him for what He has done.
- What is the extreme and opposite Truth of this circumstance?
In the lowest places, Jesus binds your wounds and sets you high above the nations of the earth. He hides you in the shadow of His wing.
God’s faithfulness in your past is proof of His goodness in our future.
We must know the reality of who God is in every struggle and every victory
My Life is not a story of no one seeing or not, seeing me – it is God’s forever pursuit of my heart !
My story is not about acceptance or rejection – it is that while I was a sinner Christ died for me!
My life is not about a suicide attempt – it is a love-story of God’s eternal life!
My story is not about divorce or marriage – it is about being called the Bride of Christ!
My story is not about being a single mother without a home – it’s the Maker’s promise that He will be my husband and He will never put me to shame or humiliate me.
My story is not about my daughter’s illness – it is God’s story of standing in a sanctuary worshiping Him because He is good!
My story is not about financial loss or gain – it is about God being Jehovah-Jireh, Who gives out of the riches of His glory!
My story is not defined by cancer, it is defined by a merciful God who walks with me in each step of the journey until the day I see Him Face to face!
My story is not about growing older, it is about a longing of a God who draws me toward Himself into the Promised Land.
Your story is not about you. It’s about God.
When we remember who God is in His wonderous deeds we can know there is not one struggle we will ever face that Jesus will not overcome.
Discussion Question: How does God’s faithfulness in your past give you confidence for your present and future?
I pray you Live Like You Know …where you are going.
