Fear. It strikes a chord in all of our souls. The unknown of what lies ahead can feel dangerous. Believe me, I know.
1 Chronicles 16:12 (NIV)
When I feel myself becoming afraid I remember God’s provision in my past. I think of the times I felt lost and hopeless and like “sense” could never be made in any of it. I reflect on financial provisions (miracles, really) He’s given. I recall illness overcome, battles won and struggles that have become dim in light of His grace.
I purposely bring to mind the times I could not understand the purpose of my circumstances.
Remembering the mighty deeds of God in our past helps us to maintain perspective. Keeping a positive mental, emotional and spiritual outlook is a key ingredient of faith when looking ahead. Having confidence that we are not alone, and provision will be made, helps us to know purpose is quaranteed.
Remember a time were afraid of what was next. What did God do in that circumstance? What was the purpose-outcome that could only be accomplished in that specific way? How does this give you confidence in what you face?
